In class

Day 2 starts with a short multiple-choice quiz on the required IMS sections. The quiz checks observations, variables, variable types, population and sample, bar plots, scatterplots, mean, histograms, median, quartiles, and box plots.

We go through the quiz slides together. Each question starts with a case from everyday life. The next slide gives the answer and the reason.

We correct the quiz together. We then connect the formal statistical language to Day 1: before we can analyze observations and variables, someone must decide what counts as an observation and a variable.

Prepare

Read the ten required sections of Çetinkaya-Rundel and Hardin (2024), listed in the assignments. Use the statistics cheat sheet while you read.

Output

The corrected quiz and your correction notes.
