Solutions

Expected end state of each exercise, the worked example, and one possible answer for X6.

The worked example shows every exercise in its finished state. Compare your repository with it when you are unsure.

Resource What it shows
Showcase Project The full plan E01–E08 with fields, the views Backlog, Board, and Roadmap, milestone markers, and workflows
Example repository 42 Issues, 3 milestones, the merged pull requests of X4 and X5, and the release v0.1.0-demo
The Projects tab of the course repository lists one open project, “PROJM example: DH master’s thesis”, with its description.

Expected state per exercise

Exercise Expected state Compare with
X1 Repository from the template; README with the synthetic-data warning; visibility checked README
X2 Labels kind:*; epics E01 and E08; six sub-issues with acceptance criteria, E01-T1 written from R-05; one story E01, E08
X3 Milestones M1–M3; a linked copy of the showcase Project; six sub-issues with your priorities and dates; E01-T3 blocked by E01-T1 Milestones, E01-T3
X4 Merged pull request; E01-T2 closed as completed; Status Done Pull request #43
X5 CSV and data dictionary; corrected CITATION.cff; decision D-T01; release v0.1.0-demo Pull request #44, release
X6 E08-T6 and E08-T7; one more dependency from the chosen option; M3 unchanged; decision D-T02; status update One possible answer below

What a complete Done looks like

An Issue is Done when:

  1. its acceptance criteria are met;
  2. its output is linked from the Issue;
  3. a review took place, and the privacy check passed;
  4. the Issue is closed, and the Project shows the Status Done.

If the Issue and the Project disagree, the plan is wrong. Fix it before you continue.

X6: one possible answer

This record chooses option A. Options B and C are just as valid when the record justifies them.

## D-T02 Two-week delay of the scans and a reuse restriction

- **Date:** 2026-10-16 (workshop; fictional)
- **Context:** The fictional archive delivers the scans two weeks late. It restricts reuse of the scans of record SYN-P021.
- **Options considered:** A release 29 records; B release metadata only; C find a substitute.
- **Decision:** Option A, because the other 29 records are complete and a reuser can work with them now. A substitute (C) adds a third party and a second risk of delay.
- **Changes:** E08-T6 target moved from 2027-01-15 to 2027-01-29. New E08-T7, blocked by E08-T6. E08-T3 (release) blocked by E08-T7.
- **Consequences:** M2 (2027-03-01, proposed) still holds. The release contains 29 records with scans. The data dictionary explains why SYN-P021 has none.
- **Not changed:** The official submission date (M3, 2027-06-01). An extension needs a formal decision (RSL Phil.-hist. 21 Art. 56).

Exit check

You pass when you attend the full session and show the minimum deliverable in the exit check. A labelled recovery package counts. The three exit questions are in the syllabus.
