Instructors
Laura Wagner, PhD candidate in Art History at the University of Zurich, researches how open-source image- and video-generation models are adopted, personalized, and circulated in online communities, including how dataset and platform norms appear in outputs. She works in the SNSF-funded project The Canon of Latent Spaces: How Large AI Models Encode Art and Culture. Profile.
Dr. Moritz Mähr works in digital history/digital humanities at the University of Bern and in Research Analytics Services at ETH Zurich. His research connects digital source criticism, science and technology studies, open research infrastructures, and responsible data/AI practices. Profile.
Organization
The Graduate Center (GRACE) of the University of Basel offers the workshop in its Transferable Skills program. GRACE handles registration, attendance, evaluation, and credits. The edition pages give the contact for each edition.
About this site
This site is a course companion that the instructors maintain. It is not an official page of the University of Basel.
- It takes no registrations and awards no credits.
- It collects no data about visitors. It sets no cookies and uses no analytics.
- For registration, credits, and the binding course rules, go to the official course listing of the University of Basel. Each edition page links it.
The site loads its fonts (IBM Plex) from Google Fonts. Your browser therefore contacts Google when it opens a page.
Teachers and students
The materials serve two groups.
- Participants and students use the edition pages, the lens pages, the handouts, and the slides.
- Teachers can reuse every part. The facilitator guide gives the Panarchy session minute by minute. Each slide deck holds presenter notes. Each lens page has a collapsed section “For teachers”. The reuse guide explains how to adapt the site and roll it over to a new semester.
